If you are looking for places in and around Santa Barbara where you can happily do your biking laps or just pedal away the afternoon, the Four Seasons Resort – The Biltmore Santa Barbara may be worth looking into.
For the uninitiated, the Four Seasons Resort was originally built in 1927, and was operated as part of the Biltmore brand of hotel chains. It became popular due to its landmark Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, but is also visited by a lot of tourists due to being one of the best luxury hotels in Santa Barbara.
The hotel is notable for having ornamentation and murals designed by English artist Fred William Stringer, who is known for his backdrops, set, and theater designs that were use extensively by the movie industry during the 1920s.
Where to Bike
People who visit the Four Seasons Resort for the purpose of enjoying the place as a biker will not be disappointed. Assuming that you already have a bike on hand (those who don’t have a bike yet can rent from any of the numerous bike rentals dotted around Santa Barbara), all one needs to do is walk straight to the front of the hotel via the north, go towards the left and you will see a walking/biking path. This biking path is great for bikers who want a good view of Santa Barbara’s beauty, because it is smack dab in the middle of the cliffs above the ocean on one side, and beautiful homes on the right.
Official Tours Available
Those who prefer guided tours (and have the budget for them) can rest easy because the hotel’s concierge can arrange a bike rental and a tour for its clients, but the tour is called the Winery Hopping Bike Tour, and is focused mainly around exploring the wineries dotted around America’s Riviera. Wineries being what they are, the greeneries will be amazing to experience while pedaling casually down the bike paths, and there is a lot of educational value in hearing the histories of the place.
Either way, even if you have no plans of checking in at the hotel and just want to bike around the place on your own, the scenery is already worth the trek. The beach view is exquisite and will be appreciated by nature lovers. But make sure you bring your own drinks if you are on a budget. As expected of places full of 5 star luxury hotels, the drinks can get pricey.
